Frequently asked questions What will it feel like? The hypnosis experience is different for everyone. People generally find it very relaxing. Some also experience temporary feelings of lightness, heaviness, or tingling. Is it safe? Yes. No-one can be hypnotised against their will and even when in trance people can still reject any of the suggestions given if they are not appropriate. Will I reveal personal secrets whilst in Hypnosis? No. Hypnotherapy is not the same as stage hypnosis, you are in full control of all you say and do. Will I lose consciousness whilst in Hypnosis? During Hypnotherapy, the client is always fully aware and in control of everything that happens. It’s like daydreaming, so even if the therapist left the room and never returned you would come round by yourself within a few minutes, people naturally do this. Are there any dangers? None. You will be in a safe environment and will simply be relaxed. Can anyone be hypnotised? Most people can go into at least a light trance, this is sufficient for most hypnotherapeutic goals. Therefore, everyone can benefit from Hypnotherapy to some extent. Can I get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis? No, you can come out of hypnosis at any time. Will I remember what happened during Hypnosis? You will remember some things but not all, but this is the way the memory normally works. for example, when you listen to a speech you don’t remember everything that has been said but you will recall the majority of it. How many sessions will it take? The number of sessions required varies but overall hypnotherapy is a relatively short term therapy and my goal is to work with you for the shortest time necessary for you to change or to achieve your goal. Please see what it helps for an approximation. How do I book an initial consultation for hypnotherapy? Call me on 07967122938 and if the answerphone comes on then please leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I am able. If you would like to contact me for a free initial chat about how hypnotherapy can help you or ask any questions, or if you would like to know whether your problem or issue can be dealt with by hypnotherapy, please do give me a call and I’ll be happy to help. How long does each hypnotherapy session last? Sessions last 50 minutes and include a complimentary relaxation CD; except for smoking cessation that requires between 90 mins and 2 hours. Initial Consultation and Assessment No treatment takes place during the initial consultation but this is a very important session giving you information that can be extremely helpful. The initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I would hope to get an understanding of why you are seeking therapy, what you feel you need from the process and what you would like to get out of it. I will then explain my own unique way of how the brain works that incorporates my specialist neuroscience knowledge. We will also talk through our agreement which will include the expected number of sessions required, the regular weekly session time (if this is possible, due to being so busy), payment, confidentiality and the cancellation policy. Your Commitment It is important to note that a commitment and determination to make change is required in order to maximize the success of any treatment program. Hypnosis and the accompanying therapy can be enormously powerful but only in combination with this determination. Results may vary depending on the individual and their commitment to the process. Listening to the relaxation CD/MP3 in between clinical sessions is necessary. Contact outside of sessions Unless prior agreement is made, it is expected that there will not be any contact outside of sessions (unless for rescheduling or cancellation). If contact is required it is requested to be made by email only. Arriving Late for an Appointment It is important that you arrive on time for your session. If your session needs to be curtailed due to your late arrival then the session fee remains payable in full. Medical Conditions As with all complementary therapies, you should seek advice from your GP if you feel you have a medical condition. Terms and Conditions All cancellations should be made verbally via telephone (fine if it goes through to voicemail); regrettably, email or text messages cannot be accepted. I ask that you give 72 working hours notice for cancellation or change of appointments. (this does not include the hours of Saturday and Sunday). Any Clifton appointment requires 1 full working weeks notice to cancel or reschedule. If you are able to provide notice in advance of this time period then the session fee does not apply. Absence due to sickness, illness, others illness, travel, childcare, any other issues or breaks in therapy barring a personal tragedy – please refer to terms. The therapy agreement issued at the initial consultation must be signed, dated and held on your file before any formal treatment begins. No refunds are given once an appointment has commenced. Hypnotherapy is most effective when you are seen regularly, therefore consecutive rescheduling or cancellations may result in you being discharged from the service. Due to demand for 1:1 Face to Face therapy, I am unable to accommodate or provide Skype calls, telephone consultations, text therapy or home visits. Unsolicited marketing calls, email, press, and media. I do not accept any speculative (spam) sales or marketing communications. The mobile 07967122938 or email address is not to be used for any other matters other than appointment inquiry or booking of appointments only.
